went to the doctor and the doctor said....

Allegra is feeling pretty good these days. She is not sickly green and does not roam the city with her security vomit bag. She is tired often, hungry at odd times, and has to pee every 10 minutes. You would think that a proud husband would be tolerant of his pregnant wife constantly spouting about how she just went to the bathroom and feels like she has to go again, but damn....every ten minutes!?!?!?!

I met her doctor. We were able to listen to bambinos heart-beat. It sounds like he is running a marathon in there. The strong heartbeat was said to be a positive indicator of a healthy pregnancy. Yayyyy.

I find it amusing that my crazy Allegra has a crazy doctor. She came into the room with her straigh sandy hair pulled back into a conservative librarian braid. She donned super-sized glasses that were all the rave in 1973. She also wore sandals that revealed her sparkling ruby red toe nails and one toe ring cutting off the circulation of a chubby middle toe.

Allegra asked if she could deliver the baby in a different birthing unit that is a bit of a drive, but brand new and beautiful. Dr. Ruby Toes went into a 15 minute diatribe of how horrible it would be if anything went awry. The suggested birthing place is beautiful but absent of any emergency staff in house. If the mother would need medical attention, docs would have to be called in; if the newborn would need medical attention, they would transport the baby to a different hospital. She explained that she is far too high strung to deal with that. Dr. Ruby Toes, then described a situation where a low -risk pregnant woman had her 4th child and things went a bit wrong. She unflinchingly used words like 'blood gush' and 'shriek of surpise' while looking at my winced and horrified face.

At the end of September, Allegra will have an ultra-sound and we will know if it is a boy or a girl and how many fingers and toes it has.

We all will be happy with either, but when forced to opine, Nolan would like a girl, I would like a boy, and Allegra would like a boy....no a girl.....yes a girl.....nooo a boy....ok she does not know.

Any name ideas for us?
